Alec Baldwin is a man’s man. Men want to be him, women want to bed him...and some men too. This actor oozes class and has a career in showbiz stretching now into its fourth decade - hasn’t he aged well?!
Arguably the more famous of the ‘Baldwin brothers’, you may know him best as Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock but one of Alec’s first big screen roles was as the recently deceased Adam Maitland in Beetlejuice but he gained notoriety in 1990 as Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October.

Alec has a penchant for starring in films beginning with ‘The’ - The Cooler, The Juror, The Aviator, The Good Shepherd, The Departed and The Royal Tennenbaums, have all been home to him. He battled the elements with Anthony Hopkins in The Edge and even voiced a hitman in The Spongebob Squarepants Movie!
Alec Baldwin is at home on television as he is in the movies. In fact his first big break was in 1980 Billy Aldrich in the soap opera The Doctors for two years and he featured in Knots Landing for two seasons after that.
But there’s one TV show we’re huge fans of here at Comedy Central UK and that’s 30 Rock – and so it seems the critics are too. Alec Baldwin has won two Emmys, three Golden Globes and has won the ‘Best Actor’ Screen Actors Guild award FIVE YEARS RUNNING playing the iconic Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock.
He’s not afraid of live audiences either. Alongside Steve Martin he’s hosted the Oscars and he’s one of the most frequent hosts of Saturday Night Live – coincidentally also sharing the title with Steve Martin - but Alec Baldwin also loves a turn on Broadway.
He’s performed in such productions as Macbeth, South Pacific, Equus and A Streetcar Named Desire which he received a Tony nomination for. In 1995 he also received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his same portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in the television version.
In his spare time, Alec is a champion of many causes. This vegetarian extraordinaire is quite the activist staunchly supporting groups from animal rights to public health around nuclear power among many others. His said activism finally led to his being poked fun at in Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s Team America: World Police. You know you’ve made it when they’ve spotted you.
Of late Alec has been filming the musical Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise and Russell Brand but he’s for a time now he’s been making clear his political intentions.
There’s been rumour, which he hasn’t flat-out denied, of his intention to run for Mayor of New York City and, who knows, we could perhaps even see a Baldwin in the White House at some point in the near future. Alec, not Stephen.
