Full Biography

The diminutive figure of Lucy Porter stands tall in the comedy scene as she is one of the most popular and consistent women performers today.

After graduating from Manchester University, Lucy worked as a journalist for the Big Issue. She moved on to work in comedy as a researcher for Granada Television.

She liked the idea of performing but was a little bit apprehensive so she first performed in Chester, a place far enough away that no one would know her if it went badly. It didn't and Lucy was bitten by the stand up bug.

She was then a finalist in the 1995 So You Think You're Funny competition. She has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival since 2002 with her most recent show, ''Fool's Gold, earning rave reviews. The show was then taken on a full UK tour in 2010.

Lucy is certainly a comedian who makes you feel comfortable. She is instantly likeable but the non-offensive nature of her sets never turns too saccharine. But Lucy has a devilish side too and isn't afraid to throw in a naughty gag, delivered with the mouth of a docker and a sly wink to boot.

In this time of recession and uncertainty, Lucy Porter is the feel good factor we all need. She teaches us all how to come up with a good security question for telephone banking and how her size makes it easy to steal children's clothes.

Lucy continues to come up with sharp funny material, her eight Edinburgh shows attest to this, and never leaves her audience short changed.

Lucy Porter has probably been on everything that has ever been on TV and radio. To name but a small percentage of her filmed and recorded work, Lucy has appeared on the panel shows Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You along with the spoof panel show sitcom Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive.

She has acted in Absolute Power and Broken News, both on BBC2 and also appeared on The Weakest Link and The One Show, on which she was measured (a confident 4' 11”).

She has written for the radio for Parsons and Naylor, and Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife for the the TV and was a team captain on Radio 4 panel show Act Your Age.

Lucy has really refined and sharpened her comedy over the years, and you can now bet your house on being thoroughly entertained by her shows. Lucy is one of the funniest women performing today.
