Be warned, do not judge a book by its cover. Beneath the warm gentle exterior of Sarah Millican lies an acerbic woman who will cut you down to size with one Geordie syllable.

After she was divorced after seven years of marriage, Sarah found therapy in attending writing workshops and in 2004 started stand up comedy.

She had never been in a comedy club before her first performance. Over the next few years she climbed the comedy ladder, being a finalist of the BBC New Comedy Awards and runner up of Funny Women in 2005.

She was also nominated for the Chortle Awards Best Newcomer in 2006 and the winner of the Best Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Awards in 2007.

Her hard work was rewarded with the if.comedy award for Best Newcomer in 2008 with her very first Edinburgh show.

Sarah Millican lures you into a false sense of security with her sweet and calm manner, but as soon as she starts talking you'll realise you got it all wrong.

Having been through a divorce, she is understandably bitter towards her ex-husband, but this isn't helped by her parents who give her advice on living alone.

It's not all doom and gloom though as Sarah will offer advice on how to spice up your sex life, although you may not want to take it given her experiences.

Sarah's witticisms have been seen on many a TV show including Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week, You Have Been Watching and The Bubble.

She has also had her own show on Radio 4 called Sarah Millican's Support Group in which she hears the audiences problems and then 'dishes out advice whether you want to hear it or not' in the guise of a busybody agony aunt.

Sarah Millican likes puddings so much that she has a section on her website entirely devoted to them. Ones involving strawberries seem to go down well.
