Full Biography

Musical comedy has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. Flight of the Conchords has already affirmed itself as a cult classic and Bill Bailey gave us a remarkable guide to the orchestra. But a certain ivory-tinkling Aussie has been busy rooting himself as the next big thing. That man is Tim Minchin.

Described by The Times as a “genuine musical virtuoso”, the actor, musician and comedian Tim Minchin has been delighting audiences with a selection of satirical songs and witty stand-up.

Originally from Perth, Australia, Tim Minchin’s break out show Dark Side took the 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festival by storm where he won the Festival Director’s Choice Award.

In the same year Minchin brought his Dark Side show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where he won the Perrier Comedy Award for best newcomer – well worth the trip from down under wouldn’t you say?

Performing love songs about inflatable dolls ('Inflatable You') to even penning a Peace Anthem for Palestine, Minchin certainly has a musical taste to rival his fashion sense – the comedian sports wild hair and ‘guyliner’ whilst performing bare foot wearing a suit and tails. Why you say? The answer: “I don’t wear shoes cos I went barefoot one day and liked it.” Cool.
