

The man that brought laughter to millions, David Lloyd, the Emmy award-winning comedy writer has died of prostate cancer aged 75.
you may not know who he is, but you're certainly familiar with his work; over the years Lloyd co-wote some legenday US comedies, including Taxi, Cheers and Frasier
After four decades in show business and winning Emmys, David Lloyd was a widely-known and most beloved comic writer, most famous for his ‘Chuckles Bites the Dust’ episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Lloyd also received a lifetime achievement award from the Writers Guild of America in 2001.
Lloyd was described by Cheers co-creator Les Charles, as “the preeminent writer of television comedy”, telling the Los Angeles Times "he's got to have been responsible for a record number of laughs in this world."
Also speaking to the Los Angeles Times co-creator of The Mary Tyler Moore Show Allan Burns said he feels the irony that Lloyd’s most famous TV episode dealt with death "and here we are mourning his death. And I wonder how funny a funeral it's going to be."
"I have an idea it's going to be funny, because that's what he'd want."
