Michael McIntyre’s stand-up DVD Hello Wembley! made No 2 in the bestseller charts in its first week on sale – beaten only by the new £100million version of Star Trek.
Controversial American stand-up Doug Stanhope (pictured) – once branded ‘America’s most depraved man’ is to join the team of Charlie Brooker’s Newswipe when it returns to BBC Four for a new six-part series in January.
The American remake of Have I Got News For You has taken a step closer to the screen after a pilot was taped in New York for the NBC network last week. Comedian Sam Seder was chosen to host the show, with stand-ups Greg Giraldo and Michael Ian Black as the team captains.
Marlon Davis, a 28-year-old from Harlesden in North West London, has won the £5,000 top prize in the FHM comedy talent hunt 'Search For A Stand-Up Hero'.
He said: ‘I always found myself funny as a child. All the other kids were listening to pop music and I was listening to Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams and Bill Crosby. It's what it was born to do. It's only just sunk it that I've won. My mum and girlfriend are already after my winnings!’
The final will be broadcast on ITV4 in the autumn.
