As Kevin Arnold on The Wonder Years, he was the televisual embodiment of unrequited love and teenage angst. For six years, Chicago born actor Frederick Aaron Savage played Kevin, the lovable teen growing up in '60's America.
The show was an immediate hit and aged just 12, Savage became the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Emmy. Fred's acting career started at the tender age of four when he was cast in the movie Dinosaur but it was another six years until he began acting regularly (now having reached double figures - 10) in movies such as the classic The Princess Bride.
Savage took time out from the acting world in the mid-Nineties to complete a degree in English with Creative Writing at Stanford University but has worked steadily, if selectively, since. His more recent acting credits include Austin Powers in Goldmember and last year's Welcome To Mooseport opposite Gene Hackman and Ray Romano.
Fred has also directed a number of projects including his brother, Ben, in an episode of Boy Meets World and his current project, a pilot for a new TV series called Situation: Comedy.
Like the character he is most famous for, Savage developed a crush on his real life neighbour, Jennifer Stone, when they were teens, but Savage has been luckier in love than Kevin Arnold and Savage, 28, and real estate agent Stone, 31, are now married.
The Kevin and Winnie-esque lovers exchanged vows last year at Los Angeles restaurant, L'Orangerie. Entertainment news website, Eonline, reported that Savage promised to "always bring up a glass of water to her before we go to bed, and she promised to never let me dress myself."
Now that's true love. And isn't it reassuring to know he looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago. Look.
