Hannibal From The A Team

The A Team: you know the drill In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.

Today still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.  If you have a problem. If no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire, The A Team.

Arguably the ultimate cult 80s action TV show, this tale of former miltary prisoners gone AWOL to help those in need spawned A Team DVD, A Team toys and now an A Team movie, casting Liam Neeson as team leader Lieutenant Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith

But before A Team the movie is released, what about the original cast? Where are they now?

Well let's start with the man who first made Hannibal such a charismatic, silver-haired leader, Hollyood legend George Peppard.

To a certain generation he'll forever be known as the man who loved it "when a plan comes together" but before becoming a star of the small screen, George Peppard was a matinee idol of the silver screen.

Just four years after his first on-screen role in 1957's The Strange One, Peppard was headlining opposite the legendary Audrey Hepburn in the classic film Breakfast At Tiffany's.

He went on to play tough guys in a series of actioners, Westerns and thrillers before making the move to TV in the 70's and 80's.

Off screen, Peppard's life was as action packed as any of his films. In 1978 he conquered a drinking problem that had plagued him for years and he spent the latter part of his life helping alcoholic associations and charities.

In 1992 he had a cancerous tumour removed from his lung, after years as a heavy smoker.

Sadly, he passed away in 1994, aged 65, with pneumonia. He was survived by his fifth wife Laura Taylor to whom he had been married 2 years.

The longest of his 5 marriages lasted 10 years, so form that we cna conclude he either really liked women, or really didn't. Your call.
