Joe Gatto Says Even The Craziest 'Impractical Jokers' Stunts Are 'Definitely Authentic'
From watching porn in public, to squirting the elderly with water guns, to Sal getting an actual, permanent tattoo of Jaden Smith, the Impractical Jokers' stunts are beyond crazy. So crazy that it can be hard to believe they're real. But speaking to Life & Style, Joe Gatto assured fans that everything they do ACTUALLY 100% HAPPENED the way you see it on screen. WHUUUUT!
“It's definitely authentic,” the 41-year-old explained, “because the show works thanks to that genuine hesitation and fear, dealing with a stranger who doesn't know they're on a hidden camera show. That's the magic of the show.”
He did concede that as their fame has grown, so have the difficulties with shooting their stunts live - they're “a little harder to do.”
But filming in a huge city definitely helps: “If anyone recognises us, we just shuffle them along and pick somebody else. There are so many people in the city,” Joe went on.
“If someone recognizes us, they're not on our show.”
Superfans, remember to stay cool if you see Murr, Sal, Q and Joe in the street - or you might miss out on a cameo in the next series!
And if you DO stumble across them one day and totally lose your mind?
Fear not, you *could* still be in with a chance: “[Some people have] said that they were fans and we've messed with them on purpose to let the public know that we knew they knew the show,” the reality star shared.
But what if excited fans get in the way of a prank on an unsuspecting person?
“We have our production team that helps us swoop in and Liam Neeson these people, like [in] Taken — [they] pull them off to the side." WOAH!
If you're thinking you'd definitely be able to hide the fact you're a fan and guarantee a place on the show, think again:
“They'll walk over and they turn into these robots,” he says of the fakers. “They can't even act human. They're excited and nervous to be on the show — it's easier to sniff them out than people think.”
