Family Guy mastermind Seth MacFarlane has finally confirmed what we were all thinking: Stewie Griffin IS gay.
This "shock" revelation emerged when 35 year old MacFarlane, who also voices the megalomaniacal infant, told Playboy magazine that he was working on an episode that would deal with Stewie coming out.
However this episode was eventually scrapped to keep his sexuality deliberately ambiguous. Yeah, like there's any doubt...
MacFarlane said: "It had to do with the harassment he took from other kids at school. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written, 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination'."
"But we decided it’s better to keep it vague," he added "which makes more sense because he’s a 1-year-old.
Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he's so hell-bent on killing [his mother Lois] and taking over the world."
"He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."
Pushing Boundaries Once More
In related Family Guy news, details about a banned abortion-themed episode of the show have finally come to light.
The original episode, Partial Terms Of Endearment was deemed too controversial by US network Fox and refused to air it as scheduled last month.
However, the episode could make its way onto a DVD release, reports Digital Spy, and the plot has been leaked.
The story was allegedly to centre on Lois Griffin acting as a surrogate for a childless couple, who are later killed in a car crash. She is then left with the choice of whether or not to keep the baby.
Apparently the episode was "very graphic, very morbid", according to the celebrity website, in regards to the abortion process, although it was supposed to vend on an ambiguous note about the contentious issue.
It is believed however, that MacFarlane tagged an add-on scene to the episode, showing Peter Griffin popping up to say that Lois went through with the procedure.
If it gets a release on DVD we'll all be able to judge for ourselves...
