Peter Kay (pictured) is to record a new charity single for this year's Children in Need appeal, which he says could be ‘another Amarillo’ – although he hasn’t yet revealed what the track will be.

And in the new video, he will outdo the star-studded cast list of his 2005 Comic Relief song, with a video featuring almost 100 famous faces. It will be unveiled on the night of the BBC telethon, November 20.

In The Loop – the movie spin-off from The Thick Of It – has won three awards at the Scottish Baftas. Star Peter Capaldi scooped best actor, Armando Iannucci won best director, and the team behind the script won the writing award.

Lenny Henry has been nominated for best newcomer in the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, for his role as Othello at Trafalgar Studios. Winners will be announced at the Royal Opera House on November 23.

The famously foul-mouthed Ben Elton has taken Jimmy Carr to task over his bad language. He said: "I think he is a funny bloke but I wish he wouldn't swear as much because it takes out the wit. I wish I wouldn't swear so much when I'm on stage either."
