Leicester Comedy Festival – the oldest comedy festival in Britain – has announced some of its headline names for next year’s event.

The festival has been extended from its usual ten days to 17 next year, kicking off on February 15, with confirmed names including Julian Clary, Lee Mack, Phil Nichol, Rhod Gilbert, Tim Vine, Stewart Lee,  and Jimmy Carr.

The full line-up is expected to contain more than 300 shows in 40 venues.

The programme will also feature a secret dining club where diners are served a meal in a secret location and treated to a live comedy show; Charity Shop DJ where guest comedians play records exclusively found in charity shops, and the Ian McMillan Orchestra performing in Leicester Cathedral – as well as the usual Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year.

Festival director Geoff Rowe, who set up the event in 1994, said: "We’re delighted to announce that Leicester Comedy Festival is growing.  This year’s event was a huge success and we want to extend the number of days to allow for a more balanced programme. "

"Extending it will also allow for more daytime shows over school holidays and make more sense in terms of the infrastructure installed to create venues and a festive atmosphere across the city."

It's a good festival this one, we thoroughly recommend you go. Click here to visit the official Leicester Comedy Festival website.
