BBC One’s sitcom Outnumbered leads the nominations for the British Comedy Awards, announced this morning.

The acclaimed family comedy has picked up five nods, with all three child stars on the best newcomer list.

Claire Skinner, who plays the mother, won a best actress nomination; while the show will also compete against Peep Show and The IT Crowd for best sitcom.


Michael McIntyre (pictured) and Alan Carr are next, with three nominations apiece.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony that will be broadcast live on ITV1 on December 12.
