Entertainment moguls Digital Spy report that Eddie Izzard was a teeny bit scared when he first saw the 1962 film adaptation The Day of the Triffids (it’s a slow news day alright!).
The cross-dressing stand-up stars in a new version of John Wyndham’s post-apocalyptic novel due to air later this year on BBC One.
The all-star cast includes Joely Richardson, Dougray Scott and Vanessa Redgrave.
Speaking to the The Last Broadcast Izzard said: "My character, Torrence, spends half his time trying to get off with Joely Richardson's character, which was fun!
"It's just a great story really, a great sci-fi thriller. The film from way back when really scared me, with the clicking noise that the Triffids made.
He hasn’t seen any of the footage yet but he “had to wait 18 months for my 'results' for Valkyrie. I think I was about a B+ in that, in an A+ film."
Eddie’s latest tour DVD Eddie Izzard: Stripped Live is out on Monday.
