The BBC is in no hurry to fill Jonathan Ross’ primetime Friday night slot with another chat show.
After his announcement to leave the BBC earlier this month, insiders at the broadcaster have told The Sun that BBC chiefs want to put some space between the presenter and his successor after they part ways in July.
An ‘insider’ said: “Executives aren't planning to rush to fill Jonathan Ross' chat show as soon as he leaves.
"They want some time to pass between the end of his show and the launch of a new series.
"If you move too quickly, Ross's successor would continually be compared to Jonathan.
They plan to fill the Friday night slot with shows like Live at the Apollo and Would I Lie to You?
Celebrities touted to replace Ross included Michael McIntyre and Chris Evans but they have both said they do not want the opportunity.
Other names in the hat include Adrian Chiles and Graham Norton, but Norton has reportedly been told by BBC bosses to focus more on his own Monday night show.
