Frank Skinner has been awarded the highest comedy accolade lads’ mag Loaded has to offer: its Lafta legend award.

The magazine said: ‘Frank Skinner is one of the biggest names in British comedy. He has enjoyed unrivalled success, both as a phenomenally popular stand-up comic and as an established leading name in television entertainment, going on to star in a succession of smash hit comedy shows, including The Frank Skinner Show, Fantasy Football and Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned.’

Skinner said: ‘I'm very excited about winning the legend award. This puts me in the same Venn diagram as King Arthur.’

Voting for the other categories in the awards, sponsored by Durex Ora! has now closed.
The magazine says it has logged a record number of online votes, and the winners will be revealed at a lunchtime awards ceremony at London’s Cuckoo Club on Wednesday.
In the past year, Skinner has launched a Credit Crunch Cabaret in London’s West End; presented a Panorama special exploring taste and decency on television and hosted a Saturday morning breakfast show on Absolute Radio.
Loaded editor Martin Daubney said: ‘Frank Skinner is undoubtedly one of the funniest and most successful comedians Britain has ever produced.
‘Skinner's is a unique mixture of confessional and philosophical humour that appeals to the everyman, which is why we are proud to crown him this year’s Loaded Laftas Legend.’
This is the seventh year of the Loaded Laftas, and nominees include nclude Michael McIntyre, Dara O'Briain, Jimmy Carr and Harry Hill.
