It sounds like another hair brained idea from 30 Rock’s Tracy Jordan, but the reality may not be far from the truth as Universal execs toy with the idea of a Jaws remake in 3D starring Tracy Morgan.
Cinemablend writes that following the mammoth success of James Cameron’s Avatar 3D, Universal Pictures are “strongly considering” making a remake of Steven Spielberg’s iconic horror/thriller according to a Universal insider.
“Their claim is that people now expect more, visually, from their movie going experience. So, Hollywood studios are inclined to take some of their tried and true franchise names like Jaws and bring them into the 3D world”.
30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan was also at one point being considered for the part of Matt Hooper, played in the original by Richard Dreyfuss.
‘NO!’ we scream! If Jaws made people afraid to go back in the water, will Jaws 3D make us afraid to go back into cinemas?
It better be more lifelike than the holographic Jaws (pictured) in Back to the Future II that’s for sure...or would that be better…?
We’re gonna need a bigger drink…
