Roy “Chubby” Brown has been cleared of assaulting a woman in a supermarket car park.
Roy, real name Royston Vasey (are you local?) was charged with common assault last September after being accused of hitting 21 year old Kelly Oliver after he almost collided with her grandmother’s car in a Sainsbury’s car park in Teesside.
Brown denied the charge and was acquitted yesterday at the Teesside Magistrates Court reports the BBC.
Apparently the jury were shown CCTV footage of the row but Chairman of the Bench Fran Wood declared it had not been helpful for either party …bet it was funny though!
Wood said of the verdict: “Due to the inconsistencies of the evidence of all witnesses and the poor quality of the CCTV footage, we are not convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Vasey is guilty of the offence”.
After court Brown said “I was proved innocent, as I said all along.”
He added: “I have had so many sleepless nights and now I am just looking forward to getting back to normal.
“I just want to get back to doing what I do best, which is make people laugh”.
