Michael McIntyre reigned supreme last night by winning two Chortle Awards

McIntyre took home the Best Tour and the TV & Radio Awards for Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

In the other categories, a big congratulations goes out to Sarah Millican who ‘did a Kathryn Bigelow’ and won the Best Hheadliner category becoming the first woman in the category to do so.

Tim Minchin
won the Best Music or Variety act and one of our resident Grouchy Young Men Kevin Bridges scooped a well-deserved award for best breakthrough act.

Tom Wrigglesworth’s Open Return Letter To Richard Branson won the Best Show award and Rhod Gilbert won the Best DVD gong for his Award-Winning Mince Pie show (the name’s all the more relevant now!).

Sketch troupe Idiots of Ants won the Best Sketch or Character Act award (you can win the chance to see them live by entering our competition here) and Chris Addison closed the night presenting The Thick Of It creator Armando Iannucci with the outstanding contribution to comedy award. 

He said it “made up for losing the Oscar” for the In The Loop screenplay.

The night was hosted by Mark Watson and the special guests at the awards included the InbetweenersSimon Bird, Eddie Izzard, Alistair McGowan and Tommy Walsh…!
