Stand-up comedian turned marathon man Eddie Izzard has been brought in to power the London Eye.

In a bid boost to his Sports Relief donations, Eddie will lend his legs to keep London’s big wheel turning.

Eddie will run for 3 hours non-stop on a prototype treadmill-cum-generator designed to convert the kinetic energy provided by the comedian into electricity that in turn will aid in the giant wheel’s functionality.

This will be a walk in the park for Izzard who has raised over a whopping £1 million for Sports Relief last year by running 43 marathons in 51 days.

Conscious of the Eye’s carbon footprint, an executive for the London Eye commented “we couldn’t think of a better way for the London Eye to save energy...and by helping charity in the process is a bonus.”

“We could be on the brink of an energy revolution," he added. " If all our nation’s stand-up comedians ran a mile for every joke they told we could ensure the future for our children is a bright one.”
