Rick Astley popped up at the first night of Peter Kay’s new stand up tour.

On Tuesday night Kay’s Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour opened at Manchester’s MEN Arena and the 80s pop star turned up as a surprise guest.

The BBC writes that Kay said the “amazing” Astely “went down a storm”.

On getting back on the stand-up game after seven years away Kay said: “The morning after the first night before - well I’m speechless and if the rest of the tour is anything like last night it is going to be an unbelievable journey.

“I’d just like to thank everybody who came or is coming to see the show, it wouldn’t be possible without you - well it would but I’d just be stood there on my own”

Astley reportedly banged out some classic 80s tuneage including the hit Never Gonna Give You Up and a medley of songs by Manchester bands including The Smiths.

Hopefully he steered clear of any Oasis songs – Peter and Liam Gallagher have been less than amicable lately…!

Kay originally planned to do four dates in Manchester but after record-breaking demand he extended the tour nationwide.
