Two decades since his last venture Eddie Murphy is planning a return to stand-up comedy!

WENN.com writes that Murphy has been penning new ideas for a comeback to the stage:

“Within the last six months or so, I started getting an itch to do it again. I started writing stuff… I was like, ‘I could go and do 15, 20 minutes right now. Maybe in a couple of months I’ll start working out again.

“But it’ll take a year before I’m ready to go on the road… It’s gonna take at least a year to get the rust off; 20 years of rust.”

Before becoming an international movie star Murphy took his cue from Richard Pryor and made his name as a stand-up comedian filling huge venues such as Madison Square Garden with shows such as Delirious and Raw.

But for now Murphy must just be happy basking in the glory of voicing a talking Donkey as Shrek Forever After rakes in the money topping the US box office with $71.3m (£43.9m) on its first three days on release.
