Potty-mouthed comedians have been getting a bit of a bad rep lately so a new competition is being launched to clean up comedy once and for all.
The Clean Up Your Act competition in association with Elias is looking for budding undiscovered stand-up acts to compete for the chance to win £1000!
The only snag is that your act must be original and above all CLEAN. That means no F-words, no naughty hand gestures and definitely no dropping the ‘C-bomb’.
There will be six heats held in various Pizza Express venues across the capital – the first to be held on Tuesday 22nd June in Hampstead.
The winner of each heat will go on to compete in the grand final on Tuesday September 14th.
On top of the £1000, the winner will receive a year’s free dry-cleaning and a year’s free pizza from Pizza Express!
Hosting proceedings will be model/actor/presenter Lord Rob Walters (pictured - easy ladies) and on the judging panel will be a representative from Comedy Central as well as Chortle’s Steve Bennett and other influential comedy contacts.
So if you think you’ve got the goods and an act that’s hilarious and clean in equal measures, then this is your opportunity to get noticed.
Here’s a classic from Tim Vine to get you started: “You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said ‘Parking Fine.’ So that was nice.”
Can you do better? Probably!
To enter you’ll need to head on over to Clean Up Your Act and provide a link to a video of your own original material which will be placed on the competition’s website.
