Dizzee Rascal and James Corden have shot to the top of the UK singles chart with their unofficial World Cup anthem Shout.

Under the moniker ‘Shout for England’, the song, brainchild of Simon Cowell, is an adaptation of the 80s Tears for Fears hit and the royalties from the track will be donated to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Shout displaced dance legend David Guetta from the number one spot and also denied chart-topping glory from K’Naan’s official World Cup anthem Wavin’ Flag.

The 2010 reworking of the iconic 1996 anthem Three Lions only made it to number 10.

For Corden it’s a first (and probably the last) but for Dizzee it’s his fifth number one single, just weeks after his latest single Dirtee Disco won the top spot.

The news must come as a relief to Corden after he made a rather bad impression last week following a cringe-worthy war of words with Sir Patrick Stewart while on stage at the Glamour Awards.
