Channel 4’s big comedy push takes another step forward as they announce Patrick Kielty as the host of their new topical stand-up show Stand Up For The Week.
Filmed at Koko in Camden, The Guardian writes that the “no holds barred” show will air at 11pm on Friday nights with regular stand-up faces joining the fun including Jack Whitehall, Kevin Bridges, Rich Hall and Andi Osho.
It’s being brought to life by the team behind Live at the Apollo and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Channel 4 has promised that it will be a “late night, edgy and on the knuckle satirical take on the big stories and big themes of the week” and be “outrageously alternative”.
Earlier this year the channel organised the largest stand-up gathering in human history with its Comedy Gala in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and made a series of Comedy Roasts putting Bruce Forsythe, Chris Tarrant and Sharon Osbourne in the firing line.
They also offered viewers an Alternative Election Night hosted by David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker, Jimmy Carr and Lauren Laverne.
Next…world domination!
