No sooner is he free from the shackles of the beeb, that Jonathan Ross has set his sights on the Brit Awards.

According to the News of the World Ross is hoping to produce next year’s ceremony as well as present it.

A source told the tabloid: “Jonathan has wanted to host the Brits for years but all his commitments at the Beeb have never allowed him to.

“As soon as he left he made it his priority to get the Brits. He’s really excited it’s going to happen. But he wants to do it properly, which is why he’s in talks to produce the whole thing as well.”

Ross bid farewell to the BBC this weekend with his final Friday Night with Jonathan Ross watched by an average of 4.8 million viewers.

His last Radio 2 show also aired on Saturday with Ross saying: “It has been a tremendous experience for us - obviously I like to think that the place has always been a little livelier while we are around.

“There were certain periods when it was a little too lively, but it’s been a great experience and a learning experience, bizarrely for people of our age.”

ITV confirmed earlier this month that Ross has signed a deal to present a new chat show for the broadcaster due to air late next year.
