BBC bosses are reportedly grooming Rhod Gilbert for a regular Monday night slot.
This comes after a big hint that The Graham Norton Show will now shift into Friday nights in the wake of Jonathan Ross’ exit from the beeb.
A BBC spokesperson said earlier this month: ‘In all likelihood, when [Graham’s] show returns later in the year it will play in the Friday night slot.’
Enter Rhod Gilbert.
An insider told The Sun: ‘We think very highly of Rhod. He is one of the comedians we want to grow and that’s why he has been given his own show. He has a bright future at the BBC.’
A headline act on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Rhod also has his own Radio 2 show. He also starred in the BBC 2 series Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience where he tried his hand at various occupations including being a soldier, hairdresser and a bin man.
Quite what they’ll dream up for Rhod is still uncertain, but we can all be assured there’ll be top class Welsh ranting involved.
