Rep. Lisa Brown was banned from speaking to the Michigan House of Representatives after she used the word "vagina" in a debate on abortion.

Bad language is not tolerated in the state legislature. Nor is correct language, apparently.

We'd be interested in your thoughts on what word she should have used instead. Clearly, fanny is not acceptable as in the US it means bum. And there's no way the House is going to discuss any laws that relate to your bum.

Current favourites include: Fufu, cooch, ladyplaces and mimsy.

"I'm flattered you're all so concerned about my vagina," Brown told her fellow legislators. "But no means no."

The sound of middle-aged men spluttering was all that could be heard in the House before Republican bigwigs took away her right to speak for "violating the decorum of the house."

Republican Mike Callton said it was simply too rude a word to say out loud. "I don’t even want to say it in front of women. I would not say that in mixed company."

That reminds us; we don't want to go to a party at Mike's house. For a start he said, "mixed company," which implies going back in time to when women and children were considered pretty much the same thing.

For another, he's clearly a bit of a penis.
