Bridesmaids leads the nominations for this year’s MTV Movie Awards – finally getting the kind of award attention it really deserves.

Getting a whopping eight nominations, it’s right up there with The Hunger Games in getting attention for best cast, breakthrough performance and movie of the year.

Bridesmaids’ stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy have two nominations each, battling it out between them for best comedic performance though Melissa is also nominated for breakthrough performance and Kristen for best female.

Otherwise, it’s pretty teenage-orientated with the main contenders being Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Help and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 are also nominated for movie of the year.

A public vote – ie. people like you – will decide who wins so if you’ve got a mouse you’d like to click you can do that in 12 categories including best on-screen dirtbag and best gut-wrenching performance.
