OK, so Two And A Half Men man Charlie Sheen has never had a problem with shyness, nor has he ever been lost for something genius to say. But now, having garnered an incredible 8 million followers on Twitter, the tiger blood tyro has decided to quit the social media platform and step away from the keyboard. It's a sad loss for the world of bite-size brilliance.

Sheen signed off with a typically enigmatic: "reach for the stars everyone. dogspeed cadre. c out". But he later urged fans to "follow" him to his next epic endeavour. One wag said that if Charlie was going to give up anything, Twitter should have been way down the list.

But where now, Charlie? Surely not Facebook? Is Bebo still going? We tried googling "next generation social media" but the results were more boring than reading a book and frankly, we don't have that kind of attention span.

One rumour doing the rounds is that Charlie's next move could be as a judge on American Idol, now Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are moving on. Heat quotes him as saying: "If the numbers move the needle and Idol matches 20 per cent of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club ... then the hell with it. As we say, pour the smoke."

Pour the smoke, indeed. Because Sheen speaking on virtually any subject would be more entertaining than a barrel full of undiscovered wannabes. If he could just talk over all that singing and dancing, it could be a great show.

One avenue sadly closed for Charlie right now is the world of diplomacy. The bitchin' rock star from Mars gave a speech at guitar hero Slash's Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony, taking a pop at Slash's former bandmate, Axl Rose in the process.

"I think it's very appropriate that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose may some day be sleeping on," said Chas. Now that's bitchin'.
