Frankie Boyle has been voted the most offensive stand-up act in a vote from over 100 comedians.

The poll commissioned by TV channel Dave saw Boyle top the category surpassing the likes of Jim Davidson, Jerry Sadowitz and Roy Chubby Brown, The Press Association writes.

The result is probably a direct result of Boyle’s recent Tramadol Nights controversy in which Ofcom chastised Channel 4’s decision to air the comedian’s joke about Katie Price’s son Harvey.

On the lighter side, Daniel Kitson was named the ‘comedian’s comedian’ narrowly beating Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard for the title.

Those asked to participate in the vote included Jo Brand, Mark Watson, Bill Bailey, Rhod Gilbert, Tim Vine and Greg Davies.

Elsewhere, Liverpool was dubbed the toughest city to perform stand up in and the north-west of England seems to be the heckling capital of the nation.

Apparently 55% of comedians claim to have had jokes stolen from them and 31% admitted to chundering from nerves before a gig. Yuck.
