The Argentine football legend fathered his first Diego back in the 1980s, while playing for Napoli. The relationship with the mother of his son only lasted one day, though some say it was more like 15 minutes. His second Diego was born to his ex-partner, Victoria, this week, though sadly he was in Dubai at the time, where he was performing crucial work as their sports ambassador.
Maradona has nothing on George Foreman though, who called all five of his sons, George, though he did kindly give them all numbers, to avoid any confusion. Daughters Freeda George and Georgetta weren't exactly spared either.
And some would say that's nothing compared to the fictional character in Catch 22 who was named Major Major Major by his father and later obtained the rank of Major in the US Army.
Other, apparently real names, in the UK, are even worse. Doug Hole and Annette Curtains must cringe when asked to introduce themselves to the rest of the group. Similarly, Tim Burr and Stan Still must have cursed their parents, not for having a sense of humour, but for having a rubbish sense of humour.
And while Diego Maradona (son of Diego, father of Diego and Diego) remains reviled in the UK for a handball in a match 27 years ago, all the Diego Maradonas would have the red carpet rolled out for them in Argentina, where the former Boca Juniors star is still revered as a short, fat, bonkers, hairy legend.
