‘He proposed while I was in New York, and then when I came back he was going to give me the engagement ring. He didn’t want to do it [simply] so he drove me into a cleaning cupboard. In the dark he pulled out the ring and put it on my finger.’
Sellers, widely remembered for his role as Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther films was married to the former Bond girl for four years after a whirlwind first meeting in which Sellers decided to meet her after seeing her picture in the paper.
‘The whole marriage was bad,’ STV quotes her. ‘He was a mad man and he threw me out in Rome in the middle of the night when we were on holiday.’
Ekland was step mother to his two children before bearing his child Victoria in 1965.
On Sellers as a father she said: ‘He was not a good father, he had no loving feelings towards his children. He couldn’t separate his career life and his father life, he just couldn’t do it, he didn’t have that thing in him.’
Ekland was voted out of the jungle on Sunday whilst comedians Dom Joly and Jenny Éclair survive.
