Her self-titled sitcom won Best New TV Comedy and the babe herself won Best TV Comedy Actress as well as the People’s Choice Award.
Picking up her final award of the night she said: ‘This is a joke right?’ No Mands, better getting cracking on that third series!
Elsewhere Michael McIntyre won Best Male TV Comic, who accepted his prize in a very live acceptance from behind the bench of Britain’s Got Talent whilst Jo Brand won the female equivalent.
John Bishop and Samantha Spiro won the Breakthrough Artist gongs and Would I Lie To You? was voted Best Comedy Panel Show.
Harry Hill picked up Best Comedy Entertainment Personality and Charlie Brooker (taking many digs during the night for his new ‘celebrity hair’ and ‘Blue Peter wife’) won Best Comedy Entertainment Programme for Newswipe.
The Inbetweeners won Best Sitcom to rapturous applause and Kayvan Novak ended up fonejacking himself as he approached the podium to collect his award for Best British Comedy Performance in Film for his turn in Four Lions.
Testimonials by A-listers Adam Sandler and Robert Downey Jr. were provided as Russell Brand was awarded the prize for Outstanding Contribution to British Comedy and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Last of the Summer Wine and Open All Hours writer Roy Clarke.
The ceremony also provided us with some comical presenting pairings, namely that of Olympic diver Tom Daley next to Tinchy Stryder but also Warwick Davis with Dara O’Briain - the new Little and Large?
But one surprise of the night came in the form of Horrible Histrories winning Best Sketch Show – the first time a children’s show has won an award – and it gave us one of the best quotes of the night: ‘If you’re not really really happy for us, that’s the same as punching a baby.’ Ha!
Rounding off the list Peter Capaldi won Best TV Comedy Actor for The Thick of It, and the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Award went to Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain.
Congrats to all the nominees and winners.
