Cops have arrested a homeless guy accused of spending months living in hotels for free. Apparently he'd watch guests leave their rooms, then slip inside, call reception and extend the stay for up to 10 days. Criminal? Of course. Genius? Most definitely.

According to WFTV, David Price has been homeless for two years but instead of opting for a street corner he chose room service, racking up thousands of dollars on other people’s credit cards. One of these ‘other people’ had this to say: “I don’t know how he got in my room, how he got my debit card, but he got the best wines, the best restaurants, room service and clothes.”

You couldn’t make this up. It’s like something from a movie. Actually, you could make this up and it is something from a movie. Chevy Chase (sort of) did it at the tennis club in Fletch and Eddie Murphy did it in Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop 2 and quite possibly the third one in the theme park but we stopped watching after 20 minutes because Miss World was on the other channel and we’d got Miss Isle of Wight in the office sweepstake, who we later discovered wasn't even in it. Gutted.

Anyway, Price spent almost $9,000 on one guy’s credit card alone, which just goes to prove that crime doesn’t pay. The people you steal from do. But Price’s life of luxury came to an end on Friday when cops finally caught up with his hotel hijinks. He had the last laugh though. He’s now living in the Orange County jail in Orlando so he’s still not homeless and still not paying. High five.

Of course it goes without saying that you shouldn’t try this at home...because it won’t work. Unless you live in a hotel, of course. In which case, let us know how you get on.
