Last night saw the Broadcast Awards 2012, which honour the great, the good and the 'just fabulous daaahling' in the TV industry.

For those in the don't-know, Broadcast is the industry publication so they know what they're talking about (or you hope they would). The event was held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

In a shortlist that included Episodes, Friday Night Dinner, The Trip, Little Crackers and Miranda, it's The Inbetweeners who took home the gong for E4 while The Trip featuring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon won Best New Programme.

The awards also saw wins for Corrie, Downton Abbey and Big Fat Gypsy Wedding as well as lesser known niche shows like The Fall of Tripoli, Dynamo: Magician Impossible and Hugh's Fish Fight taking home honours.

The awards also honoured Best Production Companies and Best Production Houses, but it was a relief for everyone not to see that dog from The Artist on the red carpet and for the film not to win a sausage.
