Jennifer Saunders has been signed up to appear in a new BBC One comedy based on the work of PG Wodehouse, who wrote funny stuff at the beginning of last century.

A six-part series called Blandings, ahem, has been commissioned which will also star Timothy Spall as Lord Clarence Emsworth.

Writer Guy Andrews will write and appear in the show which takes place in 1929 in the fictional Blandings Castle, described as ‘dysfunction junction, the home of a chaotic family struggling to keep itself in order.’

Jennifer Saunders is currently working on the movie adaptation of Absolutely Fabulous.
