M*A*S*H star Harry Morgan, who played Colonel Sherman Potter in the US TV show has died of pneumonia. He was 96.



Tributes have been rolling in from his co-stars, Mike Farrell, who played BJ Hunnicutt in the military series, said: ‘There was not an un-adorable bone in the man's body.’



It was M*A*S*H , the medical drama/black comedy set during the Korean War that made Harry Morgan a household name but he’d previously notched up 100 bit parts in movies and had an impressive televisual CV which also included the series Dragnet.



In 1980 he won an Emmy award playing Colonel Sherman Potter and at a press conference in 1983 after taping the final episode of Mash, the actor broke down, saying, ‘I'm feeling very sad and sentimental. I don't know if Mash made me a better actor but I know it made me a better human being.’
