New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel is the latest person to defend Lindsay Lohan’s, performance while Tina Fey had planned to do a Mean Girls reunion on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

You’d think we’d got nothing else to write about this week, ahem.

Anyway first up, Zooey Deschanel has been speaking to entertainment bible, Entertainment Weekly about LiLo’s performance, joining a whole long list of bloggers, twitterers, anyone really who unlike her, didn’t have anything particularly nice (or even compelling) to say.

Zooey said, ‘Can I say something? I thought she did a really good job.

’Everyone reads off cue cards. There were some people saying “She read off cue cards!” Everyone - the cast members, the host - everyone reads off cue cards.

’That's how it's done, because they change the script right before, so you have to read off cue cards.’

This officially blows the lid off entertainment for us: we thought people were just like, funny.

But unless Michael McIntyre has anything else to say on the subject, we’re officially drawing a line under, what we’re now calling, somewhat hysterically we think, ‘cue card-gate’…

Oh, but there’s one more thing: it’s been reported Tina Fey had originally planned a short Mean Girls reunion with this week’s most-talked about star on the show but was forced to pull out at the last minute when her children fell ill.

Her PR rep said, ‘Tina was committed to doing the monologue with Lindsay but both of her children got sick. She was unable to participate as planned.’

The duo previously worked together on the film back in 2004, which Tina wrote and co-starred in. And whether she could’ve bettered: ‘Gretchen, I'm sorry I laughed at you that time you got diaorhea at Barnes & Nobles. And I'm sorry for telling everyone about it. And I'm sorry for repeating it now.’

Season 6 of 30 Rock, staring Tina, will be coming back very soon!
