Before you start picketing their charity shops, calm down and let us explain. Back in 2003, a guy called Nick Newlife placed a bet that Roger Federer would win Wimbledon 7 times before the year 2019. Sadly, Nick died in 2003 but left the betting slip to Oxfam in his will.
It’s lucky that Nick didn’t leave the betting slip in a bin liner outside the shop, like most charity shop donations, because they tend to get ripped apart overnight by foxes and/or benefit cheats and the betting slip might have been lost forever.
But no, Oxfam had the slip safely tucked away in their back pocket on Sunday. Federer’s 4-set win might have been a storm cloud for Murray but the silver lining is that, at odds of 66-1, it won the charity a whopping £101,840. Absolutely ruddy fantastic…but still a good £1m shy of what Federer took home.
So what bets should we all be placing now in the hopes of winning enough to benefit charities – who are we kidding? - pay off our mortgage in 10 years time? Howsabout one of these…

By the way, we're sure you won't mind but if you win you owe us a 20% bookies fee. Terms and conditions apply, etc, yawn. Your home may be at risk if you leave the gas on and light a firework in the lounge. Good luck.
