News | Ricky Gervais asked back for 2012 Globes?

Ricky Gervais has reportedly been asked to consider hosting next year’s Golden Globes again.

On his blog Ricky wrote: ‘The TV show organisers said they were happy with everything and asked me to not rule out a third gig.’

Although he did stress that the decision has to go through ‘various other committees’ but added: ‘even if they did want me back, at the moment I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t do it. But I’ll tell you this. If they do invite me back and I accept, I’m going to pull exactly the same sh*t again or even worse.

However HFPA president Phil Berk retorted saying: ‘We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky.’

Ricky has now clarified with The Hollywood Reporter that it was NBC who’d made the gesture and not the HFPA: ‘Doug Vaughan [a senior VP at NBC] called me and said he loved (the show).

‘He said don’t rule out a third gig. I said I don’t think I’ll do it again. I doubt I’ll be invited back. And he said, just don’t rule it out...I’m sure he’ll back that up.’

He also didn’t like Berk’s ‘nice try’ comment: ‘It’s not fair. I always tell the truth. So that’s the thing that bothered me...I asked if [Berk] could explain that to the Hollywood Foreign Press. He said he would.’

Gervais signed off on his blog post: ‘Once again, everyone has been warned.’
