Ricky Gervais’s controversial care-home comedy has been commissioned for a full series, after a successful pilot earlier this year.

The show got 3.2million bums on seats which makes it the highest-rating scripted comedy in nearly two years, so well done and all that jazz.

Channel 4's head of comedy Shane Allen said: 'Ricky is a leading voice in British comedy and through Derek he captures and reflects something of the spirit of modern society.’ Etc, etc

While Ricky Gervais added: 'David Brent was an egotistical, failed musician and the most annoying man in the world. Derek is a 50 year old man with bad hair and clothes, whose best friend is a whinging bald manc twonk. Where do I get my ideas from?'

He’s asking us…!?

Anyway, we’ve tried to edit down all the sick-making back-slapping but the series should hit a screen near you in early 2013.
