Ricky Gervais would like Charlie Sheen to accept his Emmy on his behalf if he wins for his Golden Globe hosting performance later this year.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards was nominated in the Special Class Program category but Gervais was unaware of his nomination until Gold Derby told him that hosts of those shows also win when their producers do. Score!

‘No, I didn’t realize that I was nominated in this category,’ he said adding: ‘I’d like Charlie Sheen to accept my Emmy if I win’ because ‘he’s a tortured one – like me.’

Gervais hosted the Golden Globes for the second time earlier this year firing barbs at everyone from Charlie Sheen to Cher and after a lengthy ‘absence’ of about an hour from proceedings, rumours started to circulate that producers had had to ‘have a word’ with him.

‘Usually, you have to kill someone to get that kind of press I got hosting the Golden Globes,’ he said. ‘I have a message for every serial killer. Don’t bother going on that murder spree if all you want is attention. I’ve seen Dexter. It’s not worth it. Just host the Golden Globes and make a gay Scientology joke.

‘I can’t believe the reaction it caused. I don’t care if you’re offended. Just because you’re offended, doesn’t mean you’re right. If you don’t like what I did at the Globes, you should see my stand-up act. Your head will explode.’

Sounds like a challenge…
