American comedian Robert Schimmel has died after being involved in a car crash.



BBC News writes that the 60-year-old comic died from his injuries on Friday after the accident on 26th August.



He was being driven by his 19-year-old daughter Aliyah, who reportedly rolled the car on a motorway after swerving to avoid another vehicle. She is in hospital in a stable condition.



A regular on Conan O’Brien’s show, Schimmel was renowned for his edgy and often controversial material.



He was also a recurrent guest on Howard Stern’s radio show and starred in his own sitcom in 2000 entitled Schimmel which had to be cancelled after he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.



Schimmel was in the middle of a tour when the accident happened.
