Russell Brand has been given power thousands would kill to possess – he has been invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which gives him the right to vote on movies competing for the Oscars.

The comedian and Get Him To The Greek actor is among 178 actors, film-makers and Hollywood big guns that have been invited to the fold, BBC News writes.

The Hangover’s Bradley Cooper is also among those invited; another thing to widen that grin of his after his latest Hangover became the biggest R-rated comedy of all time over the weekend.

Beyonce Knowles, Jesse Eisenberg, David Duchovny and Family Guy’s Mila Kunis were also part of the invitees.
