Saturday Night Live was host to Sacha Baron Cohen’s General Aladeen this weekend. Yeah, it wasn’t the usual kind of appearance.

Naturally, it was the perfect opportunity to big up the movie.

In the show’s ‘Weekend Update’, General Aladeen produced a blood-stained piece of paper from The New York Times film critic AO Scott.

He read, ‘The Dictator is the best film I have seen in the last ten years. There, I said it. Please, please not my face.’

He also said that Chicago Sun-Times critic Roger Ebert gave the film two thumbs up before presenting two human thumbs.

Finally, General Aladeen brought in director Martin Scorsese who was bound and hooded to give an in-person review.

‘It was good,’ Scorsese said of the film before being shocked when he changed his mind to: ‘It was great.’
