Simon Pegg has revealed that work on the final instalment of the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’ could begin ‘very, very soon’.

Pegg, along with pals Edgar Wright and Nick Frost have shown us the red strawberry flavour in Shaun of the Dead and the blue Classico flavour in Hot Fuzz – now all that’s left is a green mint choc-chip film.

‘Edgar and me have been very determined that we’re going to start in earnest very, very soon,’ Pegg told Ain’t It Cool News.

He continued: ‘Not just do the same thing again, to do something very different. Not to the point of alienating people who want something, but just give people something new and something different.

‘You can’t just stay where you are forever. You have to mutate to survive, and I think we’re going to make sure that we do that. I’d hate to become stale and predictable.

‘People are already making films that are kind of like the sort of thing we might do. I want to stay a little bit ahead of the curve at least.’

Why the obsession with ice cream? Wright previously told Digital Spy: ‘The only reason the Cornettos are in both films is that in Shaun Of The Dead we mentioned Corenttos and at the premiere Wall’s gave us free Cornettos. At the Hot Fuzz premiere, no Cornettos. Wall’s, what happened?!’ Quite.
