It’s a long old time since Steve Buscemi was funny. Creepy? Yes and always. But it’s a while since he got to exhibit his comedy skills (apart from a few guest appearances in 30 Rock) and this weekend saw him in fine form as guest host of Saturday Night Live Stateside.

Highlights and hilarity included Steve as Batman, a creepy coach and poking fun at Disney ingénue in a Miley Cyrus Show skit.

Our hero says, ‘It's been a few years since I hosted Saturday Night Live. In that time I've done a lot of movies, a little directing, and best of all I got to be the lead on HBO's Boardwalk Empire.

‘The series follows the seedy underworld of 1920s Atlantic City. It's hard to believe, but at that time the Jersey Shore was home to some pretty disgusting people.’

At that time? I think it's still a valid comment today - just look at Snooki:
