The BRITS came up short on controversy and funny last night: the biggest issue of the night being funnyman James Corden cutting Adele short to make way for the Blur performance.

Adele flipped the broadcast team the finger – you may have seen this and had to shield your mum’s eyes – after her acceptance speech for the prestigious 'British Album' prize was interrupted.

James Corden later told Keith Lemon on ITV2's The Brits Backstage, ‘I just feel bad about having to cut Adele off. I really don't understand quite why I was made to, but it's not a very nice way to end.

’I was having the best night of my life but then I had to cut Adele off before she had a chance to say thank you - she's the biggest star in the world.’

We suspect the News at Ten is pretty unmoveable – otherwise they’d just have to rename it and that’s quite hard to do with such short notice.

However, we can’t even say the BRITS came up with any funny moments except maybe Labrinth – who?! - walking in front of the camera. That may count as hilarious though we’re going to wait for Harry Hill’s TV Burp to deliver the punchline on that one.

Despite the lack of merriment, we do feel slightly worse for wear this morning. Far too many pancakes, it would seem.
