The Muppets have been immortalised in Hollywood by getting their very own star on the Walk of Fame. You may want to say, 'about time'.

Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Animal, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear were of course there in person – or should that be ‘fabric’? – to receive the honour. They were also joined by their new cohort, Muppet Walter who starred in the recent movie of the same name.

Kermit said, ‘I want to say, on behalf of the Muppets, we are just really happy to be here on Hollywood Boulevard today, joining some of the greatest names in showbiz... We would like to say how thrilled we are to be here and thank you for the star.’

Of course, Miss Piggy tried to steal the limelight with a ‘Is it time now for moi to do my medley of every song ever written from every great movie musical ever made?’

And of course it wasn’t. But the cuteness was interrupted by Lisa Henson - the CEO of The Jim Henson Company and daughter of the creator Jim Henson, who revealed, ‘My father Jim Henson brought his dreams to life. First, he let his creativity run wild, then he surrounded himself with collaborators who shared his vision.’

Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Sesame Street's Big Bird, Shrek and Snow White have all previously been honoured with a star, but this is the first time a felt frog and his pig of a girlfriend have truly achieved the Hollywood dream.
